What started out as a fairly routine assignment ended up changing my life - and the life of several of my friends.

I went over to see Christine's and interview her about her new 17 Day Transformation Program. I have been to her club many times to interview her and often thought of joining, but never seem to have time.

I am ashamed to admit, this time when I went to see Christine, that due to work and life in general, I hadn't exercised on a regular basis for weeks - maybe months. Luckily living downtown, walking is part of my life or even that might have been neglected.

It may have been only several months without regular yoga or exercise, but a yoga class I had taken a few weeks earlier had left me shocked with how weak and out of shape I had become. I was really quite horrified, especially as I noticed I had gained a few pounds, too.

As Christine was telling me about her program - 17 days of a supervised low-fat / low-carb diet combined with 17 days of personal training for $17 - I found myself asking her why every woman who wasn't away or already in great shape wasn't breaking down her door.

How could they pass up the chance to see if it would work for them? Who could resist her offer, after all this is the type of treatment celebrities undergo before starting a film or making a tour. Total transformation in 17 days.

How could anyone resist? How could I?

The next day, I showed up at Christine's ready to start the program, but a bit nervous. I have never liked sports, never played games, and only had done yoga and pilates. I have actually owned a yoga studio at one time. I still considered yoga and important part of my life, but gyms are an alien territory to me.

As a health and beauty writer and former Vogue editor, I had tried almost everything and knew that weight training was particularly important for women - yet I had avoided it - up to now.

I was more comfortable at Christine's as it is an all women's club.

After a few weeks everyone began to notice how much better I looked. My weight loss and toned up arms were garnering admiring glances - and remarks.

I invited a young friend who is very beautiful, but who had gained some unwanted weight, to come to the club with me. As a woman who always watched her weight, I knew that the rewards of safe and rapid weight loss could be just the thing to change a young woman's entire perspective on fitness and nutrition. She too had fabulous results in a short time.

My best friend - a fitness-oriented person - tried Christine's program long distance. She was so impressed; she booked a session with Christine's on her visit to Toronto and still uses her program.

It has been months and I sill look and feel better than ever. Even when work swamps me and I can't get to the club as often as I would like, the foundation Christine and her trainers gave me holds steady.

I know Christine has changed the way I look - and the way I look at things - for life.
