Two years ago, I took advantage of a "free trial membership" with Christine's Fitness and attended my first visit for a fitness assessment. I had recently gained a lot of weight and was living a sedentary lifestyle after years of competitive tennis and squash. I knew I was out of shape but ignored my ongoing shortness of breath and temperature swings, putting it all down to menopause. Thanks to the diligence of Christine's expert trainers and health consultants who gave me the once-over, I was informed that I had extremely high blood pressure readings and that I should contact my doctor the next day. I made an appointment and after a battery of tests, was informed that I could have stroked out had I not sought immediate medical attention. Christine's Fitness staff saved my life!  I cannot thank them enough for their care and professionalism that identified this serious health problem.  Now that my blood pressure is back to near normal, I can't wait to get started on my road back to a healthy lifestyle with the help of Christine's Fitness.

Although I have always been a person who tries to eat right and exercise regularly, I still wanted to tone up and lose a few pounds for my fast approaching July wedding.  I saw an ad back in April for that advertised weight loss with personal training.  I asked my future mother-in-law to consider coming with me to see what it was all about.  We met with Christine personally and discussed our goals together with her.  She suggested that we take advantage of her new program which just started called .  This program is a combination of diet and just 30 minutes of intense but invigorating exercise three times per week.  Both my mother-in-law and I are delighted with the results.  In just under 3 months I lost over 15 pounds and reshaped my body in all the right areas.  Even having my wedding gown altered 3 times was a non-issue as I was so pleased with the results I achieved.

My name’s Jan Brooks.  I retired 7 years ago in July and I already had high blood pressure and a month later I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes from stress.  I realized I had to do something about this.  I had received a flyer for in the mail and learned that she had been in the business for a very long time and was extremely knowledgeable.  So I called and met with her.

I joined and the results were excellent.  My whole body is stronger.  I was very very weak before.  I had multiple problems including osteoporosis, lower back pain, bad shoulders and Foot Drop (paralysis of the muscles below the knee).  All of these areas are stronger.  My knee surgeon told me that without going to my range of motion would not be as good.  I had garnered results in 6 months that were equivalent to what he typically sees in patients after 2 years post-surgery.

The results I have achieved have spurred me on: physically I am always trying to get more in shape, while mentally it’s been a great help.  I can come here feeling down and feel revived when I’m finished.

Hello, my name is Susan Woodward.  In 2002 I had a routine bone density test that had a surprising result.  My GP called me back in to the office and told me that I had osteopenia – quite developed osteopenia – and that my bones at 50 were actually the bones of a 62 year old.  This was a shock and she recommended that, short of medication, weight-bearing exercise would be a possibility for coming to terms with this.

My name is Rosmery and I’m a Ph.D student and I needed to join a fitness club because I had a very sedentary life.  I was very low in energy, had a lot of stress and needed to put an end to that.

Since I joined club I have lost 10 pounds, however, my fat loss has been so significant that it’s equivalent to between 15 and 20 pounds, so I am very grateful for that.

What I find at , and what really makes a difference from other gyms, is a personal commitment - by personal commitment I mean the support I have received since the first day I came.  I was not only evaluated but I was also given the moral and psychological support that you need when you want to change your life.  Not only did they assist me with diet which is so important for your health but they also did follow-ups (measuring statistics against the baseline evaluation) regularly so I could track my progress.

In the year 2000, I was 70 pounds overweight.  I called just about every fitness club in Toronto to get information.  All I seemed to get was a runaround from employees more interested in selling a membership than helping me!

Except at Christine’s.  Christine, the owner answered the phone herself.  She gave me all in information I needed, and gave me confidence that I could lose the weight.  So I went in and joined.

Lost 10 pounds

I love going to Christine’s Fitness!  I have only been a member for 7 months and have already lost 10 pounds.  I have reduced my body fat by 3%, while increasing my lean body mass from 68% to 71% while increasing my muscle tone and strength.  I am most proud of my cardio vascular improvement.  I have gone from fair at 31 to Superior at 51.1 now.  I have more energy and sleep better too.  I am very close to my goals and I couldn’t have done it without Christine’s.  Thanks!

I always found fitness clubs intimidating, even though I am not an especially shy person.  However, the first time I walked into Christine’s Fitness I immediately felt at home.  I knew right away it was the place for me.  The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.  I was told how Christine’s could help me realize my personal fitness goals – right away I started to work out with more confidence.  The personal fitness instruction they offered was of great benefit to me; I have much more energy, my body is more toned, and I feel better in general.  Also, Christine’s opened up the world of Yoga to me, and it has been a revelation!  Helen’s Yoga classes leave me feeling relaxed and confident.  Another great benefit is that my husband has noticed the difference.  Christine’s is never crowded, the bathrooms are private, spacious and always clean, and I can always find a great healthy snack at the juice bar.  Christine’s is more than just a fitness club; it offers so many services that make me feel better every day.  And like I always say “being in a good health makes you feel like you can do anything!”

I’ve been a member of Christine’s for a number of years and have always appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the “no pressure” atmosphere.  Initially all I was interested in were the Pilates classes (Samantha’s the best!) but when my best friend asked me to be her Maid of Honour and wanted me to wear a sleeveless dress, I felt I had to do something about my flabby arms - for the sake of a good wedding photo if nothing else.

I joined Christine’s Fitness hoping to lose some weight and regain energy - and I have achieved my goal! After having three children in as many years, I still looked pregnant and hated it.  The kids are wonderful and lots of work, but still the weight wasn't coming off.  I was wearing horrible clothes and had basically given up on the way I looked.  Christine’s was the perfect place, it’s beautiful and welcoming, always absolutely spotless.  I really feel pampered here! Years of running and working out on my own resulted in me needing to wear a knee brace to exercise or play sports.  In fact, the only way I could go downstairs was to lean on the railing.  I also have a couple of discs in my back that would slip 2 or 3 times a year causing intense pain and making it almost impossible to walk, let alone exercise for several weeks.

I'm happy to say that because of working with a personal trainer off and on at Christine’s, my quads have become so strong that after 25 years I no longer require the knee brace and I can actually run down the stairs without the railing for support.  I have not had a back "episode" for almost 2 years - for the first time in 20 years.

Added to those wonderful benefits, I am regularly complimented on how toned and fit I am.  I am also maintaining a healthy weight.

Christine’s staff is knowledgeable, helpful and approachable and I feel comfortable in asking them anything.
